MENTORSHIP
Purpose Of The Program
Provide the Mentees with a guided and safe environment to build and develop their professional careers in the insurance industry. During the Mentor Program, the Mentee will be provided coaching and guidance and focus on:
- Leadership skills
- HR and management advise
- Product knowledge
- Networking opportunities
- Educational & designation advice
- Insight of Association benefits
- and more...
This program is designed to enhance professional skills and promote successful growth for the Mentee. The Mentor will be a resource of perspectives, knowledge, and guidance to the Mentee.
Length Of Program
6 months
Qualifications & Expectations For Mentors
- Submit a professional resume.
- Preferably have been in the insurance industry for at least 7 years, i.e., an Insurance Agent, Broker, Marketing, Claims, Accounting, Actuarial etc.
- Agrees to meet with Mentees for a minimum but not limited to 2 calls per month totaling 2 hours. (Meetings can be in person, by phone, or virtual, to the discretion of both Mentor and Mentee)
- Agree to in-person shadowing or Mentoring at least one-time during the Mentorship period. (If both feel comfortable during COVID-19) or via Zoom.
- Program is 100% volunteered, no compensation is provided.
- Be able to effectively communicate and help enhance the Mentees career.
- Be a resource and role model to the Mentee.
Qualifications & Expectations For Mentees
- Should be relatively new to the industry and/or looking to consider a position in the industry.
- Provide information as to which area of the industry they need the Mentorship in order to assist with proper placement of Mentor.
- IE. Personal Lines, Commercial Lines, Cat Plans, Agency Management, Accounting, Claims, Actuarial
- Should commit to the 6-month term, calls, and visits. (If both feel comfortable during COVID-19) or via Zoom.
- Commit to keeping in touch with Mentor on a regular and timely basis.
- Agrees to participate in the Program for its duration and availability.
- Agrees to meet with Mentor for a minimum but not limited to 2 calls per month totaling 2 hours. (Meetings can be in person, by phone, or virtual, to the discretion of both Mentor and Mentee) •
- Ask as many questions about business, career, job specifications, etc.
- Be willing to initiate conversations and meetings and be willing to have open and engaging conversations in order to learn new things!
- Participation does not guarantee appointments with carriers
The Mentorship program is a special opportunity for growth and development for both the Mentor and Mentee. By signing this form, you are making a pledge to commit to the Mentorship Program for its entire duration. The LAAIA also reserves the right to request from the participants of the Mentorship Program a brief testimonial video, this video can be in English or Spanish.
